We offer two separate styles of Aerial yoga @ theLodge.space!
AERIAL YOGA uses silk style hammocks to support and cradle the body, taking you through yoga postures and inversions.
AERIAL YOGA TRAPEZE uses parachute style fabric and separate handles for hands and feet for some challenging postures and conditioning
If you haven't been to aerial yoga before then please start with one of our beginners classes.
Aerial Yoga combines traditional yoga poses, pilates, circus and dance with the use of a hammock.
Aerial Yoga classes at the Lodge will also include fun yoga style flips and tricks.
Dynamic Aerial Yoga
For those who have already beaen practising aerial yoga. This class goes a little faster, giving you the options to play around with some new challenging movements and postures. The focus lays on building strength and a stronger grip.
Aerial Yoga Foundations
An introductory class for people who are a little unsure about using the aerial silks. Taking you slowly through the basics right from the beginning, making you feel safe and secure in your hammock whilst being elevated off the ground for the very first time.
Restorative Aerial Yoga
This slow and nourishing class works with the hammocks just a few inches off the floor using them in a range of more restorative calming exercises.
Aerial Yoga Trapeze Foundations
Yoga Trapeze adds in that missing “pull” motion lacking in mat-based practice and is a useful tool for obtaining correct alignment in poses, functional strength and better balance.
In this beginner's class expect to learn the basic techniques and poses while almost on the ground to gain familiarity with the equipment and a deeper understanding of this practice.
Dynamic Aerial Yoga Trapeze
In this Dynamic class expect moments of deep relaxation mixed together with more physically intense exercises that will often include using the side straps or the main sling like a TRX. Build further on your knowledge of poses and expect a few flow sequences to help increase your ability and understanding of more advanced techniques offering a remarkable way to experience a real positive transformation.
It is generally not recommended to practise Aerial yoga if you suffer from any of the following conditions/issues:
Pregnancy, Sinusitis/Head cold, Glaucoma, Recent surgery, Heart/Cardiovascular conditions (such as much not limited to heart disease, high or low blood pressure, at-risk or recent stroke, syncope/propensity for fainting), Vertigo, Compromised bone health (osteoporosis, osteopenia), Joint laxity (weak ligaments, compromised joint integrity), Recent head injury/history of concussion, Carpal tunnel syndrome, Severe arthritis, Hernia, Disc herniation or acute discogenic disease, Joint replacement, full or partial Diagnosed Neurological conditions, Severe muscle spasms, Botox injections (within 6 hours)
